LC Uniboot is an innovative fiber optic splice technology that simultaneously transmits single mode and multimode fibers in a splice for bidirectional connection. At present, there are many uniboot products with different connectors on the market. Do you know which ones?

Development of LC Connector

Conventional LC connectors require the use of two connectors in fiber optic connections, one for transmitting optical signals and one for receiving optical signals. This requires more space and a more complex installation process, resulting in a limited density of fiber optic connections and more difficult operation and maintenance. To address these issues, fiber optic connector manufacturers began developing solutions for single connectors and introduced LC Uniboot connectors around 2002. LC Uniboot connectors achieve a single connection interface by combining transmitting and receiving fiber channels into a single connector, thereby reducing the space required for fiber optic connections, increasing connection density, and making operation more convenient.

With the increasing demand for communication, the number of optical cables in Data center and computer room is also growing rapidly. However, the optical cable wiring space in Data center and computer room is limited. To improve the efficiency and density of wiring, a more compact optical cable connection method is needed. Therefore, high-density connectors such as MDC and SN have been introduced on the market.

Uniboot Connector Types

LC Uniboot Connector

Uniboot LC connectors are the most widely distributed connector products in uniboot rays, including Uniboot LC Standard Clip Uniboot, LC Flat Clip Uniboot, LC Push-pull Tab Uniboot、LC Push-pull boot, LC Switchable Uniboot Cables and other connector products.

LC Standard Clip Connector: LC standard clip uniboot cables adopt the standard clamping design of LC connectors. Each connector is equipped with a standard sleeve and sleeve holder. This design simplifies connector installation and operation, reducing the tools and steps required. Uniboot LC Standard Clip Uniboot Cables are not designed with reversible polarity.

LC Flat Clip Connector: LC flat clip uniboot cables use a flat clamping design with a flat clamping device on each connector. This design makes connector installation and operation more convenient without additional tools or accessories and easy for reversible polarity. Uniboot LC Flat Clip Uniboot Cables use a flat holder designed to provide additional fiber protection. The holder stabilizes the position of the fibers, reducing fiber bending and tension, thereby reducing the risk of fiber damage.

LC Push-pull Tab Connector: LC push-pull tab uniboot cables use a push-pull tab design, and each connector is equipped with a label that is easy to grip and pull. This design makes the plug and pull of the connector more convenient and easy to operate without additional tools. Uniboot LC Push-pull Tab Uniboot Cables feature a push-pull tag design that provides additional connector protection. The shape and design of the tag make the connector more durable and reduce the risk of damage and breakage. LC Push-pull Tab Uniboot Cables are not designed with reversible polarity.

LC Flat Clip Uniboot with Push Pull Connector: LC flat clip uniboot with push pull boot push-pull-boot for ease of handling without inconvenient push-pull tabs.Stackable thanks to its low height and perfect for high-density (HD) and ultra-high-density (UHD) applications. Polarity can be changed securely and easily without the need for tools.

LC Switchable Connector: LC switchable uniboot cables can achieve higher connection density in limited space while ensuring connection reliability. This design reduces cable confusion and tear, improving the overall cable management level. Due to the design and features of Uniboot LC Switchable Uniboot Cables, plugging and unplugging is more convenient and simple, and wiring is more simplified and compact. This helps save installation and maintenance time and reduces overall costs. LC Switchable Uniboot Cables are designed with reversible polarity.

LC Premium Unibody Connector: Robust unibody connector design and precision ferrules make this the connector of choice for years of reliable service. It is not designed with reversible polarity.

LC Keyed Connector: This solution offers mechanical network security where segregation of networks is needed for the security of privacy concerns. A unique key feature allows mating only to a similar color-keyed adapter. It is not designed with reversible polarity.

SC Flat Clip Connector

The SC flat clip connector is a specially customized uniboot optical fiber. The flat clip SC uniboot adopts a flat clipper design, which makes the connector smaller and suitable for scenarios with limited space. The internal structure of the connector supports bidirectional transmission, that is, the same connector can transmit upstream and downstream signals at the same time. Flat Clip SC Uniboot adopts a clipper connection method, so it is very convenient to connect and disassemble.

MDC Connector

The MDC (Multi-fiber Distribution Connector) uniboot was developed by US Conec. The MDC uniboot connector reduces the number of connectors and space occupied by combining two optical fibers in a single outer sleeve, effectively increasing the wiring density. The MDC uniboot connector adopts a touchable floating device, which can make the connector stable during connection and disconnection, making it easier to maintain and manage. It is designed with reversible polarity.

SN Connector

The SN uniboot connector allows the connector to be plugged and unplugged in both positive and negative directions through a unique rotation and rotation locking mechanism, avoiding connection errors and winding problems. The SN uniboot connector adopts a dual-core fiber design, which merges two fibers through a single outer sleeve, reducing the number of connectors and the space occupied, and increasing the wiring density of the system. The SN uniboot connector adopts an integrated design, and fiber maintenance personnel can easily plug, unplug, and manage jumpers through rotation and locking functions. It is not designed with reversible polarity.

CS™ Connector

The CS ™ uniboot connector adopts a rotatable outer sleeve design, which can easily steer the fiber, reduce winding troubles, and improve wiring flexibility and manageability. The CS ™ uniboot connector adopts a dual-core fiber design, which combines two fibers in one outer sleeve, effectively reducing the number of connectors and the space occupied, and improving the wiring density of cabinets and equipment. The CS ™ uniboot connector integrates an elastic clamping device and a protection package, which can stably maintain the connector connection and fiber spacing, simplifying the maintenance and management process. It is not designed with reversible polarity.

Conclusion

Uniboot Fiber Optic Series provides a comprehensive product lineup to meet the various needs of data centers. Different connectors such as LC, CS ™, MDC, and SN have different characteristics to meet the specific needs of customers for different application environments.
