FS Active DWDM Solutions
Active DWDM Solutions
The advent of the 5G era, which supports higher data rates, reduced latency, and larger capacity of transmission, has improved people's requirements for high-quality communication. However, traditional optical networks usually use multiple fibers for each service, which reduces the efficiency of transmission a lot. Considering that, FS provides two active DWDM solutions, which work better on network management and deployment. The details will be explained as the following below.
What Is Active DWDM Network?
Active DWDM system, regarded as a transponder-based system, can help to transport large amounts of data between sites in a data center interconnect setting. Different from passive DWDM networks, active DWDM networks usually include OEO, active DWDM Mux Demux, EDFA, DCM, and other active WDM components, which are more suitable for long-distance transmission. Besides, active DWDM networks provide performance monitoring and diagnostic tools for all-optical ports.

100G PAM4 DWDM Open Line System for 80km DCI
FS 100G PAM4 DWDM open line system is a highly integrated active DWDM transport platform, designed for medium and 80km long-haul data center interconnect connectivities. The platform integrates 40 channels DWDM mux/demux, optical amplifiers, dispersion compensation modules, and an optical supervisory channel in 1U space, greatly saving a lot of space in DWDM network deployment. And this active DWDM platform has zero-touch and automated configurations, supports automatic fiber distance measurement and automatic dispersion compensation setting, improving the deployment efficiency of DWDM networks and reducing the requirement for the network manager to a great extent.
The following figure shows how the 100G PAM4 active DWDM open line system is used in 80km DCI applications. The 100G PAM4 optical transceivers are used to connect the N5860-48SC switches and the 100G PAM4 DWDM platform directly.
40CH Active DWDM Mux Demux for Better Optical Links Monitoring
Based on AAWG technology, the 40ch active DWDM mux demux is a high-density, low loss, and stand-alone device with a high capacity of up to 400G. And it also supports visual monitor ports and flexible management and operation, bringing great convenience to its users. Besides, it supports a flexible mix of 1G/10G/25G/40G/100G/200G Ethernet, SAN, OTN, SDH/SONET, and native video services, providing efficient and convenient DWDM deployment solutions for DCI, cloud service providers, video providers and so on.
As the picture below shows, the 40CH active DWDM mux demux is connected with S5860-20SQ switches and M6200 2U chassis platform via 10G DWDM SFP+ transceivers. Compared with the last active DWDM solution, this one needs to add OEO, DCM, EDFA, and other products to carry out long-distance transmission.
Conclusion
To sum up, both active DWDM solutions are user-friendly and support the transmission of up to 40 channels of multiple data rates. The difference is that the 100G DWDM open line system, with the integration of EDFA, DCM, and so on, is much easier than the DWDM Mux Demux in terms of network deployment and management, especially when the latter wants to achieve the same results.
