FS S5860 series L3 enterprise switches (S5860-20SQ, S5860-48SC, and S5860-24XB-U included), are enterprise switches featuring an advanced 3-tier design, offering easy operation and network reliability for large-scale campus network aggregations, and small and medium-sized network cores. Q1: What optical transceivers and cables do FS S5860 series switches support?

A: Please check out these documents

Q2: Do S5860 series switches support stacking?

A: Yes, all of the S5860 series switches support 2 units of stacking. Besides, no special stacking cables are needed, one S5860 series switch can be stacked with another S5860 series model via transceivers or DAC/AOC cables.

Q3: What switch ports can I use for stacking S5860 series switches?

A: FS S5860 switches support all Ethernet ports for stacking. For example, S5860-20SQ switches support stacking through all 10G/25G/40G ports.

Q4: Is it possible to run LACP over a pair of S5860 series switch stacks?

A: Yes, they can run LACP when multiple switches are under stack status.

Q5: Can FS S5860 series switches be rack-mounted?

A: Yes, FS S5860 series switches can be rack-mounted. S5860-20SQ, S5860-48SC, and S5860-24XB-U all come with rackmount ears.

Q6: Do S5860 series switches require a license?

A: No, FS S5860 series switches don't require a license.

Q1: Do FS S5860 series switches support OpenFlow?

A: Yes, FS S5860 series switches support OpenFlow but the implementation of OpenFlow requires an SDN controller.

Q2: What management capabilities are available for the FS S5860 series switches?

A: You can manage these switches using SNMP (managed by Zabbix), RMON, Syslog, CLI, Web-based management, or Telnet/SSH/Netconf.

Q3: Are FS S5860 series switches IPv6 capable?

A: Yes, all of the three S5860 series switches support the IPv4 and IPv6 multicast functions.

Q4: Do FS S5860 series switches support the Spanning Tree Protocol?

A: Yes, these switches can meet the requirements of STPs with high reliability.

Q5: What security protection policies do FS S5860 series switches support?

A: FS S5860 series switches support hardware-based IPv6 ACLs, DHCP, SSH, SNMPv3, NFPP, etc.

Q6: Do S5860 switches support Network Address Translation(NAT) functionality for connection to public ISP?

A: No, S5860 series switches do not support NAT function, but you can use gateway, firewalls, or routers for connection to public ISP.

Q7: Are FS S5860 series switches TAA compliant?

A: No, FS S5860 series switches are not TAA compliant.

Q8: How do I see per VLAN STP info when I have the switch in RSTP mode?

A: If you want each VLAN to run a spanning tree protocol, you can use MSTP. After configuring MSTP, you can use the command: show spanning-tree summary view displays the information of each instance of MSTP and its port forwarding status information. RSTP does not have a command to view the STP information of each VLAN. You can use the command: show spanning-tree summary to view the spanning tree topology and protocol configuration parameters.

Q9: Do FS S5860 series switches support Quality of Service (QoS)?

A: Yes, all three S5860 switches support QoS for better traffic control. FS S5860 series switches provide different priorities to different applications, users, or data flows to reduce packet loss, latency, and jitter on a network.

 

Management

Q1: How can I configure S5860 series switches?

A: S5860 series switches support easy management through Web or CLI. In addition, based on the PicOS® operating system, AmpCon™ controllers can be used to achieve automated management. You can read the article "5 Reasons to Buy FS S5860 Series Switches with PicOS®" to learn more.

Q2: Can I manage FS S5860 series switches together with third-party switches such as Cisco switches?

A: Yes, FS S5860 series switches support SNMP, you can use Zabbix to manage S5860 series switches with the third-party switches via SNMP.

Q3: Can I reset the switch via the so-called "func" button on the front of the switch?

A: No, the "func" button is to restart the switch. To reset the switch, please configure the command \'delete startup-config\' and \'reload\' to restart via the console port.

Q4: Where can I see the firmware update for FS S5860 series switches?

A: The firmware update is released in the Resource Section of the product page.

 

Power and PoE

Q1: Do I need to buy extra power supplies?

A: No, you don't have to. The power supplies are included in the switch.

Q2: How many power supplies are FS S5860 series switches equipped with?

A: Each S5860 series switch is equipped with 1+1 dual redundant AC power supplies. When one power supply fails, the other power supply can take over its work.

Q3: Can FS S5860 series switches be operated on 48VDC power?

A: No. FS S5860 series switches only support the AC power supply.

Q4: Do FS S5860 series switches support replaceable power supplies?

A: Yes, FS S5860 series switches support hot-swappable dual power supply units. You can remove or replace the PSUs without shutting down the system.

Q5: Are spare power supplies for FS S5860 series switches available?

A: Yes, you can contact your account manager to get the swappable AC power supply for S5860-24XB-U offline.

Q6: What is the idle power consumption of S5860 series switches?

A: The idle power consumption is 60% of the max power consumption, namely 51W.

Q7: What power management do FS S5860 series switches support?

A: FS S5860 series switches support Energy Efficiency Ethernet (EEE).

Q8: Do FS S5860 series switches support PoE?

A: The S5860-24XB-U switch of the three S5860 series supports PoE++ and a maximum of 90W can be supported on a single RJ45 port.

Q9: Can the PoE function be turned off for data transmission only?

A: Yes, the PoE function can be turned off manually. Also, the PoE supply function will not be turned on when no powered device is detected.

Q10: Do FS S5860 series switches support Wi-Fi 6 standard AP devices?

A: Yes, the FS S5860-24XB-U PoE++ switch meets the high-rate interface required by Wi-Fi 6.

Q1: What's the warranty of the hardware and technical support for FS S5860 series switches?

A: FS S5860 series switches come with a 5-year warranty and lifetime tech support. Free after-sale support services are available for users purchasing from FS.com.

Q2: If the S5860 series switches are discontinued, will support continue to be offered?

A: Yes, FS will continue to offer support throughout the limited warranty period.
