June 2024 — FS, a global provider of ICT network products and solutions for HPC, data centers, enterprises, and telecom networks, has worked with Keysight Technologies, a market-leading design, emulation, and test solutions company, to validate the high performance and reliability of FS data center switches in hyper-scale and enterprise data centers using the Keysight RoCEv2 test solution.

High network bandwidth, low latency, and robust computing power have become imperative in modern data centers. With the burgeoning demand for data-intensive applications, the significance of RoCEv2 (RDMA over Converged Ethernet version 2) technology in data center infrastructures cannot be overstated. RoCEv2 allows more applications like high-performance computing, storage, and artificial intelligence-based applications to converge over ubiquitous Ethernet networks. This translates into big cost savings during network expansion and maintenance, making it essential to validate the RoCEv2 performance of various data center switch fabrics.

FS Joins Forces with Keysight

FS Switches Pass Rigorous RoCEv2 Validation

The Keysight RoCEv2 test solution provided FS with a valuable way to validate the RoCEv2 performance of its data center switches. The market-leading RoCEv2 benchmarking test solution was introduced in February 2024 and includes a high-density cost-effective test hardware platform (AresONE-S 400GE), the IxNetwork test application, and the RoCEv2 license.

Testing was conducted by running a typical one-hop many-to-one RoCE performance test on FS data center switches with specific switch configurations. RoCEv2 endpoints were emulated by using high-density AresONE traffic load appliances. The test report showed that FS data center switches can maintain high RDMA bandwidth and low latency even on congested RoCE networks, aligning with high industry standards.

Lisa Pi, Testing Project Manager of FS, said, "The explosion of large-scale models has fueled the demand for high-speed Ethernet in data centers. High-speed Ethernet networks can meet the demands for scalability and performance, enabling faster processing of ML workloads while conforming to open standards. The Keysight RoCEv2 Test Solution is a valuable tool in helping us validate the performance of FS data center switches in HPC networking. This partnership underscores the importance of rigorous testing in validating the capabilities of data center infrastructure."

"At Keysight, we support our customers by providing high performance, reliable test, and validation systems. The successful validation of FS data center switches using Keysight’s RoCEv2 test solution underscores our dedication to supporting the most demanding data center environments," said Daisy Sun, Senior Product Manager, Network Test & Security Solutions, Keysight.

With the successful validation of FS data center switches via the Keysight RoCEv2 test solution, high-speed Ethernet networks can provide the cost-effective scalability and performance required to reduce the processing time for ML workloads, contributing to the build-out of ML infrastructure ecosystems. FS remains steadfast in its vision to deliver reliable and innovative networking solutions that empower businesses and data center owners to thrive in the era of digital transformation.
