Explore PicOS® 4.4.4

Layer 2 and Layer 3 Features

IP Source Guard (IPSG)

Elevating network security, IPSG is a pivotal feature that prevents IP address spoofing attacks within your local area network (LAN). By filtering traffic based on IP and MAC addresses, it ensures only legitimate devices can communicate, safeguarding your network’s integrity.

Loopback Detection (LBD)

Ensuring network stability, LBD periodically sends detection messages to identify and eliminate network loops. This proactive feature prevents broadcast storms and performance issues, maintaining seamless network operations without the need for identical sending and receiving interfaces.

Policy-Based Routing (PBR)

PBR introduces a new level of traffic management, allowing administrators to direct network traffic based on predefined policies. This feature provides granular control over traffic flow, optimizing routing paths according to various factors like source/destination IP addresses and packet attributes, rather than relying solely on traditional routing protocols.

Telnet Server Function

Adding a layer of convenience, PicOS® 4.4.4 supports functioning as a Telnet server. This enables remote management and troubleshooting, allowing administrators to efficiently access and manage PicOS® switches, enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Web GUI Feature

Layer 2/3 Web GUI

PicOS® 4.4.4 now supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 configuration through a Web GUI, making the setup process more intuitive and accessible. This feature is available for the S5810 and S5860 series PicOS® switches, simplifying network management for users of all levels of expertise.

Key Feature Enhancements

In addition to new features, PicOS® 4.4.4 includes significant enhancements to existing functionalities, improving overall performance and user experience.

Automatic Reboots for Stability

The issue of automatic reboots experienced by some S5860 series PicOS® switches when stopping PicOS® has been resolved, ensuring stable operation and reducing downtime.

Faster Restart Times

The update addresses the extended restart times previously observed in the AS5835-54T model, significantly reducing reboot duration and enhancing efficiency.

ERPSv2 Enhancement

Enhanced ERPSv2 support includes sub-ring, revertive and non-revertive modes, WTB timer, and modes for force and manual switching. These improvements increase network resilience and flexibility in ring topologies.

GVRP Enhancement

GVRP now supports selective VLAN advertisement, streamlining VLAN registration and reducing the need for manual configuration. This enhancement simplifies network management and reduces administrative overhead.

Password Protection for Linux Shell

To enhance security, PicOS® 4.4.4 introduces password protection for accessing the Linux shell. This feature ensures that only authorized users can perform critical system functions, safeguarding the network from unauthorized changes.
