Stepping into the 10G PON Era: FS Launches XG(S)-PON OLT and XG-PON ONU

September 26, 2024 – FS launched an XG(S)-PON OLT and two XG-PON ONUs. These new additions enhance its PON product lineup and solutions, meeting customer demands for higher bandwidth and faster data transmission rates.

As internet applications such as 4K/8K video streaming, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and cloud computing continue to advance, the demand for bandwidth has increased substantially. In response to this growing need, FS launched the new XG(S)-PON OLT and XG-PON ONU, building on the existing PON product series.

The FS OLT3710-16XG2T, with its compact 1U height, is designed for flexible adaptation to various application scenarios. Equipped with dual redundant power supplies, it supports dual AC, dual DC, or an AC & DC hybrid power configuration, ensuring stable and reliable transmission.

This XG(S)-PON OLT delivers downstream rates of 10Gb/s and upstream rates of 2.5Gb/s and 10Gb/s. It features 16 XG(S)-PON ports, each capable of connecting up to 256 ONUs, allowing a single OLT to cover up to 4,096 end users in typical deployment scenarios. In the combo PON solution, the OLT supports smooth evolution from GPON to XG(S)-PON.

Additionally, FS has launched two XGPON HGU ONU devices: ONU1930-4GV-W and ONU1930-4G-W. Both devices support 2.5G upstream and 10G downstream transmission rates, compatible with the FS OLT3710-16XG2T.

These two ONU devices are nearly identical in configuration and functionality. The primary difference is that the ONU1930-4GV-W includes POTS ports for analog phone connections, enabling voice call functionality. Notably, both devices feature five external antennas and support dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with speeds of up to 3000Mbps. This allows them to fully replace traditional routers and provide both wired and wireless services to single-household users. Thanks to TR069 and OMCI protocols, service providers can remotely manage and configure these ONUs, ensuring efficient, reliable, and flexible network services.
