Mar. 15th, FS News - FS, a networking solution provider for data centers, enterprises, and ISP networks, has launched the FS Box V2 - a firmware upgrade tool kit for FS SFP/SFP+/XFP/QSFP+/QSFP28 transceivers and DAC/AOC cables. This tool is designed to solve the real-time compatibility requirements faced by optical network engineers, which can continuously upgrade the transceiver firmware to make it compatible with the upgraded switches.

This FS Box V2 is an upgrade version of FS Box V1. Compared to FS Box V1, FS Box V2 is a more portable tool. With better dimensional design and matched ergonomics, FS Box V2 is easier for engineers to carry and hold in the field. In addition, the USB port of FS Box V2 has been upgraded to USB Type-C, which enables customers to use FS Box V2 on both desktop and mobile devices.

Like FS Box V1, the FS Box V2 also includes two parts: the portable FS Box and the FS Box Smart Cloud Platform. The FS Box is mainly used for inserting SFP/SFP+/XFP/QSFP+/QSFP28 transceivers and DAC/AOC cables. While the FS Box Smart Cloud Platform is an efficient and intelligent cloud system in which users can reconfigure transceiver modules’ P/N and compatible brand. With this FS Box V2 and the cloud system, customers can use online coding, batch coding, study function or custom coding to upgrade the transceiver firmware. Each of these four functions is designed to meet customers’ specific need. For more information on how to use each function in details, please visit FS Box V2 User Guideline

Online Coding

Online coding is the basic function of FS Box V2. By using the FS Box V2 online coding service, customers can reconfigure the compatibility of a transceiver bought from FS by changing the transceiver’s P/N and compatible brand on FS Box Smart Cloud Platform. This reconfiguration process can be finished in a few minutes.

Batch Coding

Batch coding is an upgrade version of the online coding function. As the name implied, it helps customers to reconfigure a batch of transceiver modules with the same type in a much more efficient way. With this batch coding function, customers can change numerous transceivers’ P/N and compatible brand with a once only editing of the transceivers’ coding information.

Study Function

The study function is designed to solve compatibility issues with customers’ problematic optics after the sale. By turning on the study button and entering into the study-mode, customers can read the configure file of the available transceiver and reconfigure problematic transceivers to solve the after-sales problem.

Custom Coding

Custom coding is a complementary function of online coding. This is because the FS Box V2 online coding service is now only available for reconfiguring transceivers to optics which are compatible with Cisco,Juniper,Arista,Brocade, Intel, Dell (Force 10), Extreme, H3C, Huawei, IBM, Alcatel-Lucent, and Netgear. For customers who want to reconfigure to other vendor names and P/Ns, this custom coding service can perfectly meet your needs.

FS Box V2 is an innovative product which helps network engineers to save money and time in dealing with fiber optics. With this firmware upgrade tool kit for transceivers and DAC/AOC cables, customers can upgrade the transceiver firmware (including part number, serial number, vendor name, etc.) at any time and anywhere. Till now, the first batch of FS Box V2 stocks has been sold out quickly. To meet global customers’ urgent needs, FS will prepare hundreds of stocks in the US, DE and AU warehouses in the near future.
